Kindness Brings Tea Charm —‑ The Full Legend of Tieguanyin

Tieguanyin is one of the most famous oolong teas in China, famous for its elegant fragrance and lasting sweet aftertaste.

The story began in Anxi, Fujian, a misty and fertile land perfect for growing tea. There lived a simple, honest, and kind farmer named Wei Yin.

Although he was poor, he had a pure and devout heart. On the mountain behind the village stood an old, abandoned Guanyin temple covered with weeds. While other villagers ignored it, Wei Yin climbed the mountain every single day to clean the temple, remove dust, and tidy the surroundings.

He did good deeds quietly for decades, without seeking fame or reward.

One night, Guanyin appeared in his dream. She told him that a magical tea tree grew secretly in the rocky crack beside the old temple.

The next morning, Wei Yin found the unique wild tea tree exactly where the goddess guided.

He carefully cultivated and bred the tea plant. The tea produced extremely elegant orchid fragrance and incredibly smooth sweet taste.

People named it Tieguanyin (Iron Goddess of Mercy) in memory of this kind and blessed story.

Tea culture teaches people: sincerity and kindness always bring beautiful returns.
