Shennong Tastes Herbs: The Origin of Tea in the East

Five thousand years ago, ancient people lived simply and faced many unknown plants in nature. Many wild herbs were toxic and caused illness.

At that time, a great leader named Shennong appeared. He loved his people deeply. He traveled through countless mountains, tasting all kinds of plants to distinguish edible herbs, medicinal plants, and poisonous weeds. He devoted his entire life to protecting ancient people from sickness and danger.

On a extremely hot summer day, Shennong traveled deep into the forest. Tired and thirsty, he built a simple stone stove and boiled pure spring water to rest.

A gentle mountain wind blew, and several fresh wild tea leaves accidentally fell into the boiling water.

After drinking the water, Shennong felt incredibly refreshed. All his tiredness and heat disappeared instantly. His mind became clear and peaceful.

He realized this special leaf was a natural gift from nature.

He began to teach his people to pick and brew tea leaves.

This legendary accident became the origin of Chinese tea. For thousands of years, tea has carried gentle oriental vitality and passed down the oldest plant-drinking culture in human history.
