A Mountain Adventure —‑ The Birth of Oolong Tea

Oolong tea is famous for its rich layered aroma and balanced taste. Its origin is a beautiful and accidental story in ancient Chinese mountains.

In ancient Fujian, a brave young hunter named Wulong often hunted in deep forests and picked fresh tea leaves in spring.

One sunny spring day, he filled his bamboo basket with tender fresh tea leaves. Suddenly a lively rabbit appeared in the woods. He chased the rabbit through hills and forests for a long distance.

During the whole chase, the fresh tea leaves inside the basket kept shaking, rubbing, and touching fresh air continuously.

The leaves naturally produced partial oxidation, just like professional tea shaking processing.

When he returned home at sunset, he processed the tea as usual.

The finished tea showed an amazing new flavor: fragrant, mellow, smooth, and layered, completely different from green tea and black tea.

This accidental wild experience created the unique semi‑fermented tea — Oolong tea.
